Meet the team

We are Tania and Steve, owners of Wildwood B&B. We have two teenagers, a dog called Milo and a cat called Monty. We also have a resident hedgehog in the garden and a wide variety of wild birds that flock to our bird feeders every day.

Tania Joyce

B&B Owner
As well as managing the day-to-day running of the B&B, Tania is a freelance designer and has run her own design business for many years. She runs Wildwood Design alongside the B&B and offers a range of design & photography services for small businesses and artists. She has a passion for gardening, mid-century furniture and collectables, art, Russian dolls, walking with Milo in the forest, photography, mushrooms and feeding wild birds.

Steve Gillson

B&B Owner
As a born and bred Londoner, Steve has embraced country living in the New Forest very well. He is an avid music fan and collects vinyl. He is responsible for the record player on the sideboard in our dining room and playing records for our guests during breakfast. Steve enjoys getting out and about in the forest when he isn't commuting to London.
"We have spent three relaxing days in New Forest, all the while staying at Wildwood. The stay was perfect in every sense. We could combine forest walks and visiting local coast. The B&B is right next to a train station so one can hike quite far and come back by train if desired or use the train to visit Bournemouth and Poole without having to drive. The B&B itself is a gem. It only has two guest bedrooms; there is a plenty of parking space in front of the house and an easy car access from the street. Our bedroom was spacious and tastefully decorated; we found tea and freshly ground coffee in the room, and homemade cookies to boot"

Milo

Lurcher
Milo is our rescue lurcher, he is 5 years old and has proved very popular with our B&B guests. He is a gentle, sensitive dog, but perhaps not the brightest. He loves being made a fuss of and actually thinks we run a B&B so that he has more people to worship him. He really loves greeting our B&B guests but he is very well behaved and knows that he has to go to his bed when our guests sit at the table for breakfast. Milo loves sleeping, chasing squirrels and running around in the New Forest. Milo and Monty have their own Instagram account, made by my daughter:
"Owners lovely, room great, breakfast brilliant!! Location excellent and we both loved Milo!!"

Monty

Moggy
Monty is our young grey cat. He has the softest fur and the loudest purr of any cat I've ever had. He loves running around and being stroked, although he has a rather annoying habit of grabbing my leg and biting me when he wants some attention or I stop stroking him. Monty stays away from our guests as he does not like people he doesn't know, but sometimes guests see him at night staring at them across the landing and a grey blur as he runs away. Milo used to get on ok with our previous cat but unfortunately Monty reminds him too much of a squirrel and they do not get on at all.
"We felt very comfortable and relaxed during our stay at Wildwood with very friendly, helpful service. Lovely comfortable room and generous supplies of drinks. We especially enjoyed the delicious breakfasts with excellent choice of menu. Excellent place to stay for exploring New Forest"

Our story

Making a fresh start in the New Forest

We made the decision to leave London and move to the New Forest for family reasons and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made.

Sway is a friendly village and the ideal base from which to explore the New Forest and coastline. You can walk from Wildwood and be in the forest within 10 minutes. And, within a short drive away,  there are so many varied locations to visit, including the forest, the coast and many tourist attractions. Every season is so different in the forest, I find it hard to choose a favourite.

At Wildwood B&B we aim to offer you a comfortable, welcoming place to stay, with home cooked breakfast made from locally sourced produce. We play vinyl in the mornings for our guests and our home is filled with colour, art and vintage finds.

We opened in June 2018 and, as a new business, we welcome your feedback and are constantly looking for ways to improve the service we offer.

We hope you will come and stay with us and leave wanting to return.

Tania & Steve
